Vintage Inspired Makeup Looks

One of our favorite style themes is vintage, and we love to mix it with modern trends. The 20’s, for example, are endlessly inspiring, but you can pull ideas and themes from vintage looks from any era. For this one, we are going to find our favorite 20’s inspired makeup, which is perfect for any formal event. Here at Faviana we are all about the glam, and 20’s-themed makeup is nothing short of Old Hollywood glam. Here is our favorite vintage inspired makeup looks!

Vintage Inspired Makeup: Dark, Bold Lipstick

Classic, perfect, and obviously vintage. 20’s bold lipstick tended to be on the glossier side, so go with a dark shade with a hint of shine, or add a sheer gloss over your matte color. To add an edgy twist to the look, go for a dark plum color. The flapper 20’s girl also tended to over-line her lips on the top and bottom, so feel free to accentuate your cupid’s bow and make your lips look a little fuller with liner and color.

Vintage Inspired Makeup: Smoked-Out Eyes

This is the original smokey eye, and the 20’s gals knew how to do it well. For the true vintage look, start with your usual light grey or white base across the entire lid, and fill in the crease with a darker grey or brown. Pull the darker color down along your lower lash line as well for a smudged-out look. For an edgier look, bring in a touch of maroon or bordeaux to your crease color.

Vintage Inspired Makeup: Dramatic Liner

A dramatic cat eye liner is perfect for becoming your inner Audrey Hepburn. Go for your favorite liquid or pencil liner, and line all the way around your eye or just heavy on the top, keeping close to the lash line. Next, pull the corners of your liner up in a dramatic swoop. Use a stencil or scotch tape if you need a guide! The bigger the better in terms of the wing, but the vintage wing is usually more linear than a curved wing.

Vintage Inspired Makeup: Lashes on Lashes

The flapper girl adores big, bold lashes. Not quite Twiggy style in terms of bold bottom lashes, but the top lashes were always are long and thick as possible. If you are comfortable with fake lashes, this is your chance to have the lashes of your dreams! If not, try applying several coats of mascara, allowing it to dry between coats, to get that full lash look. Be sure to curl your lashes as well!

We love to add vintage style to our everyday looks and to give it our own twist. Take these tips and add in your favorite beauty tricks, and you have a look ready for any event!
