When preparing for a job interview, there are many steps you should follow in order to properly be ready. A successful interview can lead to a wide range of opportunities, so you want to perfect it! Always go into every interview confident and well-prepared. But first, before going into an interview, you want to perfect your resume, pick out a sophisticated yet stunning outfit, as well as practice possible Q & A’s that your interviewer may ask. However, there are three very important things not to say in an interview, ever! Make sure to watch our video and practice formulating answers without using these three words!
Things Not To Say In An Interview: “Umm”
The word “umm” is a tricky word that tends to slip out of our mouth when we are stumbling on what to say next, or even trying to remember something. It’s a great filler that we all like to use even when we don’t intend to. Although, during an interview, using this word will make you sound unsure of yourself. You want to avoid this word to show the interviewer you are confident in the set of skills that you can bring to their company. It’s all about standing out from the crowd and beating the competition!
Things Not To Say In An Interview: “Like”
Hey girls, like, this blog, is like, about things to not say in an interview, like, did you know, about, like, these words?! If you couldn’t guess it, “like” is yet another filler word that often slips out of our mouths when trying to explain what we want to say. Again, practice possible responses beforehand and sound confident when saying them to the interviewer. Instead of saying the word “like,” trying using filler words like “such as” or “for example.” Sounding professional and speaking properly will help you ace your interview.
Things Not To Say In An Interview: “Idk”
Nobody expects you to know the answer to everything, and this is fine! You need to also be prepared that your interviewer may ask you a question that you have no idea how to answer. First breathe, take a minute to think, and at least try to formulate an educated answer. If nothing seems to come into your head, the next best thing to say would be “I’m not sure right now but I will get back to you.” By saying this, the interviewer knows you are really interested in the position and have a way around problem solving.
Now that you know the 3 most important words to NEVER use in an interview, go start practicing. And most importantly, good luck! 🙂
