Summer hair trends

If you’re anything like me, when the seasons start to change I get antsy to switch up my style. Literally any slight personal change sends me into a tizzy and keeps me from being completely bored with myself. Unfortunately, the other side of that coin is that I am a chicken. I know, all fashionistas should be daring beyond measure, unafraid to take risks and forge new paths into the wilderness, but that’s not me. I like air conditioning and my idea of wilderness is Central Park. That being said, everyone likes a change now and then, so here are a couple of the hottest summer hair trends (that if you’re willing to commit to) can completely revamp you style. And for those Faviana readers like me who can’t/won’t commit to such a big change (or, you know, have a job) I’m going to give you a few ways to fake these looks.

Colored hair

Maybe it’s my inner rock star but when colored hair came back in style I internally squealed. It has always been a dream of mine to rock lilac hair on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I have black hair and I was scared to damage it too much by bleaching the life out of it. If you’re naturally blonde and the transition would be easy please PLEASE let me live vicariously through you. Go dye your hair. Send me pictures. But for those of us unwilling to take the full plunge we have a few options!

BAM

We can dip dye our ends! There are permanent and non-permanent ways to go about this, you can chalk your hair or use Kool Aid if you’re a do-it-at-home kind of girl. There are tons of videos online to give you step by step instructions. Now the other dark haired girls out there are probably mentally shouting that our hair is too dark for chalking but I have an answer for that as well! This brings me to my next hair trend…

Ombre!

A lot of stars having been repping this trend on the red carpet and all it takes is a simple Google search to see that ombre comes in a variety of styles and colors. If you feel like lightening your ends, hair chalking becomes tremendously easier, and ombre can be very subtle and classy if you’re just looking for a change! If dyeing your hair is not an option AT ALL (some of us are very protective of our tresses) you can achieve the same look through the use of hair extensions! You can get human hair extensions and dye them or you can even buy dip dyed hair extensions if you’d rather have someone else dye them for you!

If you are still too afraid to commit such a change, you can also choose to celebrate summer by adding a brand new cute cocktail evening dress to your wardrobe or you can seize the opportunity of this last hot summer trend below.

I Like Big Buns

My last go to summer hair trend doesn’t require any cutting or dying, but can be done two very different ways. Big hair buns have been all the rage this season, and if you don’t want to pay a professional a chunk of change to recreate the look for you there is a simple and completely inexpensive way to do it yourself!

Sock buns are almost absurdly easy. In addition to keeping all of your pretty hair off your neck and shoulders, it’s also the fastest hairstyle I’ve found to leave you looking polished and fresh. There are literally tons of ways to interpret this style whether you want something slick or slightly messy.  Once again I would suggest using YouTube as a guide on how to do this, but you can simply cut up an old sock or buy a pre made “donut” from any beauty supply store! It takes about 10 minutes max and is perfect for second day hair.
