Spa Hacks to Try at Home
It’s finally summer!!! I love leather pants and bordeaux lipstick as much as the next girl but we have been ready for some warm weather for almost 9 months! In celebration of this new season we all deserve a little pampering in preparation for those adorable short dresses! Unfortunately a day at the spa may not be in your bank account, but don’t you worry! Here are a few DIY spa hacks to have your spa day at home with things you can find in your kitchen (or at a nearby convenience store)!
1. At Home Hair Mask
It’s amazing what you can do with the food you already have hanging out in your fridge and I’m not talking about a snack! (Although those are amazing too). If you want to jump start your way to smoother, silkier hair you can do it with three simple ingredients found in your fridge! Take half of a ripe avocado and mash up well, add 3 generous dollops of full fat mayo and an egg yoke and give it a good mix! Apply liberally to you hair and leave in for 15 to 20 minutes! This is the perfect treatment to get your hair ready for any special occasion dress!
2. Soothing Soak
While you’re letting your hair treatment soak in go ahead and fill up your bathtub and go for an old Egyptian beauty ritual like this one which calls for bathing in milk and honey! Your skin will come out amazingly supple and soft! When you’re done with your relaxing soak rinse out your leave in hair treatment and rinse off any excess milk and honey!
3. At Home Pore Strip
Now that your body is clean and smooth it’s time to give your face a little TLC! I don’t know about you but I am both obsessed with and horrified by pore strips. What I do know is that I love how clean they leave me feeling! But those little suckers can be expensive after awhile! Especially if you’re using them weekly like they suggest. Instead grab a packet of unflavored gelatin and some milk. Mix a tablespoon of the gelatin and 1 1/2 tablespoons of milk together. Pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds and then apply immediately after it comes out! It doesn’t smell amazing but it hardens in 15 minutes and removes all your blackheads!
