This year’s show debuted more edgier looks, bold colors mixed with darker, somber shades, slouchy silhouettes, and regal military.  The season is going to be full of bold colors, orange in a darker shade is a favorite and velvet adding texture to dresses and blazers is a must.  Earthier tones can be boring, but not when mixed with faded silk, sequins, lace, and in tandem with geometric patterns.

Metallics and military are making an impact this Fall.  From leather jackets and slit skirts to coats decked in sequins and shiny metals.  Luxury is back, fur collars, sharp shoulders.  The dresses and coats had sharp shoulders paired with thick black belts and color combinations of green, black and shades of red.   Fur collars softened the distinct lines of some of the dresses coming down the runways this season.   Some designers went feminine with chiffon silhouettes and see-through fabrics.

Take a little black dress and add a pop of color on your feet!   From suede pumps to peep toes to strappy sandals, neon bright shoes are coming in every style this spring.   Take a cue from winter and purchase a neon yellow peep toe pump with studs on the heel.  Embellishments were huge this winter and why not let them last through the spring as well.  Color blocking is not just for clothing.  How about turquoise suede sandals with an orange heel and a hint of pink on the straps ideal for any summer night when you want to add some pop to your outfit.  Another fabulous color combo is red, pink and orange or the ultimate combination of neon pink, yellow, purple and a hint of teal.

If shoes are not your first priority when shopping how about neon leggings with a chunky neutral color sweater or tunic or subtle neon graphics on a blazer or top.   The colors this spring are sure to excite any budding fashionista.  So whichever your taste or style is be sure to electrify it this spring with neon pops of color.

Rooney Mara has been rocking cut outs at everything from movie premieres to the Golden Globes.   Her clever cutaways at the Golden Globes flashed just the right amount of skin. Her look was both youthful  and sexy.   Lea Michele took her cut outs to a different level.  Whereas Rooney Mara showed flesh, Lea Michele had her cutout covers with sheer fabric.  Her look was more seductive and mature.  Lea Michele’s antique embroidered illusion dress, was sheer sexiness.

At this year Screen Actors Guild Awards, Kyra Sedgwick showed that cut outs are not just for the twenty year olds.  Kyra Sedgwick wore a halter red dress, with side cut outs.  Her look was classy and fun.  Elle Macpherson has shown up to recent events wearing body hugging bandage dresses sexy cut outs surrounded by rhinestones.   So whether it’s a look a me now in my cut outs or simple and classy side cut out, there is something for everyone.   This is a trend that is fashion-forward and will be showing up everywhere from red carpets to prom 2012.    It is creative, fun and the perfect way to show your playful side.

Forget black and white; try blush and beige tones this year.  A pale pink leather top paired with a pair of jeans, for the perfect date night outfit.  Can’t pull off leather, how about a silk, tan tuxedo style blazer to compliment any little black dress? Brighten up your look and add some shine!

• If you have a petite hourglass shape, try long, lean lines to elongate your petite frame.  This will make you look taller.
• If you want to have the appearance of being taller than you are, try monochromatic looks that are simple in terms of designs and style. Try a long metallic or black dress.
• If you are a girl with an average medium hourglass body shape (you have curves but not too many) opt for form fitting designs that will show off your waist and not draw attention to other areas.  But if you are going to wear the body hugging silhouette, avoid plunging necklines and keep in mind that mini is not always best.
• If you have an athletic build, it is all about long lines.  Adding some accessories like a belt will make you have more of a pronounced waist.  Don’t be afraid to go short to show off your long, lean legs.
• If you are petite, opt for dresses that again highlight your tiny waist,  But don’t always go tight.  Add some volume to your look with a tunic or some embellishments on your outfit.

Whatever your style is, dress for your body.  Know your shape, know your style and know what looks best on you.   Knowing what you like and what looks best on you will cut down your shopping time and allow you to feel comfortable and confident in your outfit.
