After the pre-show red carpet extravaganza, the actual Academy Awards ceremony can seem like a bit of a letdown. So instead of taking bets on who’ll win, we’re going to give the nominees for best supporting actress some fashion advice. Tune in Friday for our picks for what redcarpet dresses the best actress nominees should be wearing.
Sally Field, Lincoln
The year Sally Field won the Oscar and made her legendary “You REALLY like me!” speech, she went low-key in a plain black sheath. This year we hope she stays strapless (she may be old, but the lady’s in shape) and kicks it up a notch with some bright color and rhinestone beading.
Anne Hathaway, Les Misérables

When Anne Hathaway disastrously hosted the 2011 Oscars, with barely-there co-host, James Franco, she changed dresses as often as most of us switched the channel during the pair’s painful banter. But this year, she’s up for best supporting actress for her turn as Fantine in Les Misérables, a role that the already sylph-like star shed 20 or so pounds and about a foot of hair to play, and presumably, she’ll be limited to one dress. We suggest she accentuate her sleek physique in sexy sequined chiffon.
Jacki Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook

This Australian actress is nominated for the second time in the supporting actress category for her role as Robert De Niro’s wife in the widely acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook. Though no spring chicken, Weaver would dazzle in pale blue chiffon, with beading on the bodice.
Amy Adams, The Master

This is the gorgeous redhead’s fourth Oscar nomination, for her role as in The Master. We think this gown (here an Ashley Benson dress) in a stunning ice blue, will set off Amy’s eyes as the beautiful sequin-covered mesh corset top makes the most of her figure. After three nominations and no wins, here’s hoping the fourth time’s the charm.
Helen Hunt, The Sessions
While “Mad About You’s” Helen Hunt had no problem baring all in The Sessions, she’ll presumably cover up a little bit for the red carpet. We suggest she show off her still beautiful bod in this sexy strapless sequined celebrity gown.
