Ladies, you too, can look like Keira Knightley — but with eating!
Faviana has created “an uncanny duplicate” (their words) of the resplendent gown that the actress wears in Atonement while getting a rogering in the library from James McAvoy.
The film was set in 1935 but Faviana co-president Omid Moradi assures us that the frock is a timeless classic, saying, “This will definitely be the ‘must have’ dress for prom and all other special occasions this spring.”
Retailing at $238, it will be available in stores from February 1. To find a store near you, visit faviana.com.
Atonement’s costume designer Jacqueline Durran has said that she had birthday suits on her mind when she crafted the design.
“It also had to be a dress that she looked almost naked in, as fine a fabric as possible, and loose-bodied,” she said. “The fabric was so fine that the bodices kept tearing. We had three or four skirts and 10 bodices and when they tore, we would quickly repair them.”
Wow, we were unaware there was an “almost naked” fashion movement in the 1930s. (We always knew we were born in the wrong decade.) Here’s hoping the Faviana design has a bit more heft in case a bunch of young ladies show up to prom in the same dress and a nationwide catfight ensues. Just to be safe, go for the hair, girls. Rip weaves, not dresses!
