False Lashes

How to make your false lashes look like natural

I have always been a lover of makeup. Like most little girls I tried to get into my mother’s eye shadows as often as possible and that childlike fascination with makeup has stayed with me ever since. When it comes to polishing off your face, fake eyelashes can make a huge difference in your look. They dress up your evening gown dress and make your dress transform to the perfect red carpet dress.  Despite how fabulous they can make you feel I have many friends who are terrified of them and don’t know how to go about applying lashes. I’m about to depart some of the tips I’ve gleaned over the years that have made all the difference in how I wear false lashes! Make up doesn’t have any rules that are set in stone, but these are a few tricks that work well for me.

A quick Google image search will show you just how many different types of falsies there are to choose from and it’s up to you to decide how natural or dramatic you want your lashes to be! A dramatic eye would be more appropriate with any formal gown, but you don’t have to dress up for falsies, go more subtle with a casual short dress. I prefer to apply my lashes after I’ve done my eye shadow and eyeliner but before I’ve applied any mascara.

Step 1. Remove your lashes from their box and measure them against the length of your eye. Everyone has different sized eyes so if your lashes are too long don’t be afraid to use a small pair of scissors to clip off the excess! This is one of the reasons women usually find eyelashes irritating or painful. If you do need to cut them make sure you cut the inner corner of the lash (usually the side of the strip with shorter lashes). Repeat on your other strip! After that I like to bend my falsies a little so that they curve more naturally to the shape of my eye.

Step  2. In terms of adhesive I prefer to purchase a brand that dries either black or  clear. The trick to glue is to apply the thinnest possible layer along the lash strip and then wait about 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky. If you try to apply the eyelash immediately after you apply the glue there’s a better chance that it will slide around and you won’t get the look you want.

Step 3. Apply your lash! This is by far the scariest part of the process but don’t get discouraged, all things take time and practice. Slowly and gently place the lash as close to your natural lash line as possible a give it a few moments to dry, then apply your mascara and curl all of your eyelashes together and voila! Falsies made easy!

Now you are ready to step out and show off your killer look.  Pair a cat eye look with a little black dress or a softer eye with a girly white dress !
