Fall Weddings

We often associate the wedding season with the end of summer …. but let us adjust our misconceptions because fall weddings are just around the corner!

The wedding scene is ever-changing and with it the dress code for guests.  It could be a casual vineyard affair or a black tie hotel gala so it is essential to use the setting and climate of the festivities as keys to choosing an outfit.

Truth be told- fall weddings come with a wide range of outfit opportunities. A satin or taffeta gown is the perfect choice, and when paired with a pashmina or fur shawl, they are ideal for a fall black tie affair. Knee length dresses are also suitable but bear in mind that black tie is very formal, so do steer clear from anything too sheer or skin revealing as it might not be appropriate. Though you can never go wrong with black, there are also colors that will look just as classic.  Plum, wine, emerald, and navy are all chic at the moment and truly majestic for any formal wedding.

For a black tie optional dress code, there is a more casual feel but still remains formal.  Designers are currently adoring embroidery, elaborate beading, embellishments, and overlays, so even if opting for more casual fabrics these details will still add a lavish touch to your cocktail dress. It is not always clear how formal black tie optional is but it is still important to achieve a polished look.

Not all couples want a big ordeal. Some want a casual celebration that speaks to them and their story. Picture a party hosted in an art gallery, backyard or on a rooftop. Plan your outfit around a dressy casual/festive scheme. To do this successfully, you can dress up a casual look by combining fancy heels, a dressy blazer, a sparkly belt, a statement necklace or big dangly earrings. You are still going to a party, so do not necessarily settle for an office outfit.

Above all- you want to feel comfortable in whatever you wear and at the same time be dressed appropriately for the occasion.  Be sure to add to the ambiance that they are working to create.
